Iceland's Atlassími Deploys MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch to Improve Availability of VoIP Service
Toronto, ON, Canada — April 19, 2006 — MERA Systems, a forefront supplier of carrier-grade session management technologies such as VoIP Softswitches and Session Controllers, today announced that Atlassími, Iceland's premiere supplier of VoIP communications services, has deployed MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch for intelligent management of its VoIP sessions.
The Challenge
As one of Iceland's leading service providers offering VoIP services, Atlassími delivers calling card and voice over broadband services to enterprises and residential users. To accommodate for the rapid growth of its subscriber base and increase customer satisfaction, Atlassími needed a solution that would collect calls from the end users and send them to carrier partners, while maintaining high quality and availability of service.
The Solution
To address the above tasks, Atlassími deployed MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch (MVTS) at the core of its VoIP network. MVTS operates as the central call handling instrument, concentrating calls that come from the telco's customers, and sends them to the partner networks. One of the important benefits that have enhanced Atlassími's competitive edge is 'look ahead' routing, a capability that enables the system to 'look ahead' to evaluate availability of a gateway before terminating a call. If a gateway reports error, the call will be automatically sent to another gateway on the list. The use of look ahead routing has enabled Atlassími to increase Answer Seizure Ratio (ASR) by 25 percent.
