MVTS Session Controller from MERA Systems Enables RTComm to quickly and reliably use VoIP directly to Teleglobe's VoIPLink™ Service, for cost-effective, international call exchange
Toronto, ON, Canada — July 9, 2004 — MERA Systems, Inc., a supplier of cost-effective solutions for VoIP carriers, today announced that RTComm, one of Russia's top ten providers of Internet and voice services, has deployed MERA's MVTS Session Controller for delivery of high quality real-time IP communications across Russia and EMEA countries. The MVTS easily enables a direct VoIP interconnection from RTComm's network to Teleglobe International Holdings, Ltd [NASDAQ: TLGB] VoIPLink™ Service for cost-effective, international call exchange.
The MVTS session controller is "off-the-shelf" interoperable with Teleglobe's network — one of the world's most extensive telecommunications networks and the largest international VoIP network — based on the results of the compatibility testing between MERA and Teleglobe, which also earned the VoIPLink service a classification as MERA FriendlyTM. These programs represent an ongoing mutual commitment by both companies to ensure fast and easy interconnection between Teleglobe and MERA-powered carriers, improving speed-to-market and reducing capital and operational expenses.
The MVTS session controller is deployed at the core of RTComm's H.323-based VoIP network for advanced call routing and session control. Enhanced with smart traffic management capabilities, the MVTS performs policy-based routing, sending calls to the best available route paths both in terms of quality and profitability. One of the key reasons why RTComm selected the MVTS is its ready scalability — MERA's solution can be easily upgraded without any interruption of service, and can therefore easily accommodate for the fast growth of traffic volume with RTComm, which now doubles every month. Furthermore, ready MERA/Teleglobe interoperability enables RTComm to immediately benefit from one of the world's leading networks for high quality termination and origination, with no extra modifications in its own network infrastructure.
"Interoperability with MERA's session control technology enables us to effectively interconnect with the major carriers in Russia and EMEA countries, since the MVTS is the platform of choice for most carriers in the region," says Jeff Bak, Director of Product Management for Teleglobe. "MERA is our long-standing partner, and we are willing to continue our efforts to ensure that telecom service providers like RTComm can have a friendly, immediate connectivity with our global network. MERA's VoIPLink Ready status assures carriers and service providers evaluating or using the MVTS session controller that they'll be able to easily and cost-effectively connect their VoIP network to one of the largest wholesale voice carriers in the world."
"Serving large national carriers like RTComm.RU has always been a priority task for MERA," says Natalya Korobkova, Marketing Director for MERA Systems, Inc. "Being extremely popular with medium-sized ITSPs, we are now adding a growing number of major national carriers into our customer portfolio. With the advanced functionality it provides, along with ready scalability, QoS assurance and rock-solid fault-tolerance, the MVTS is exactly what big national carriers need to deliver mission-critical quality and reliability to their customers. The MVTS deployment with RTComm is a vivid demonstration of this fact. We are pleased to continue our work with Teleglobe aimed at making VoIP technologies close at hand for carriers and service providers across the world."
"As a market leader for IP communications in the region, we are committed to providing our customers with guaranteed quality of service and SLA assurance," says Alexander Stepanov, Marketing Director for RTComm. "It is for this reason that we partner with best-of-breed carriers and technology vendors. We have selected Teleglobe because it is a proven partner for international long distance calls and a leader in VoIP internetworking, and deployed MERA's MVTS session controller because it provides us with everything we need to control VoIP traffic flows. In fact, MERA provides us with more than a session controller — namely, with a reliable solution and a team of expert engineers close at hand. Their always-on availability is yet another reason that makes you sure of your network."
