MERA Systems, Inc. Celebrates 100th Customer Deployment

October 10, 2003

Toronto, ON, Canada — October 10, 2003 — MERA Systems, Inc., a key provider of carrier-class VoIP solutions, has announced that INT Communications, Georgia, has become MERA's 100th customer through deployment of the MVTS, the company's breakthrough session controller.

"MERA Systems, Inc. is excited that our systems provide added value to VoIP carriers across the globe," says Natalia Korobkova, Marketing Director, MERA Systems, Inc. "We always do our best and fine-tune our products and services to meet the most pressing needs of the evolving VoIP industry. The transparent routing mechanism and robust interworking capabilities make the MVTS one of the best-selling solutions available today. Along with INT Communications, we are pleased to introduce four customers located in different corners of the world, which have deployed the MVTS in their networks and proved its efficiency through day-to-day operation."

A major telecom company in Georgia, INT Communications has installed the MVTS for revenue-generating peering with partner carriers and low-cost LD and ILD communication services to enterprise and residential customers. INT holds a unique position in the industry, offering a wide range of networking equipment and services to the highly competitive national market. With its full-featured RADIUS support, the MERA solution is a perfect instrument for policy-based routing. "The deployment of the MVTS allows significant reduction of LD and ILD traffic costs, whereas the RADIUS-based accounting eliminates delays in obtaining the billing data and enables us to provide prepaid services to our clients," says Vakhtang Tsagareli, Director, INT. "The interworking functionality expands our network reach, whereas the dynamic routing capability minimizes termination costs." The business partnership contract to be signed in October between INT and MERA Systems Inc., under which INT will become MERA's distributor in Georgia, is another remarkable testimony of the reliability and functionality of the MVTS.

Comstar Communications, Moscow's largest telecom operator for high-quality local, LD and ILD communications, has deployed the MVTS as its main VoIP traffic concentration point. Established in 1989, Comstar pioneered the deployment of a leading-edge digital telecom network in Moscow for a wide range of modern communication services. Today, the total length of Comstar's proprietary network exceeds 2, 000 km. "We have migrated to the MERA solution to address the needs of our growing business," says Konstantin Vorobiev, head of the VoIP department, Comstar. "With over 200 configuration parameters, the MVTS easily connects to the ever increasing number of gateways and partner networks, ensuring seamless interoperation with multivendor equipment. Unlike hardware solutions that we were using before, the MVTS is highly scalable and provides centralized administration for multiple server instances, which are important cost and labor saving benefits." Comstar currently employs the MVTS servers with total capacity of 700 concurrent calls, and is planning an upgrade to 900 simultaneous calls in the month to come, which will enable the operator to process up to 10 million minutes of VoIP traffic per month.

ezTEL USA, Inc. has installed the MVTS for dependable, cost-effective and flexible routing. A carrier's carrier, the ezTEL Group routes millions of minutes of international data and voice traffic each month through its proprietary telecommunications switching and network infrastructure to a global consumer base. Specializing in Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS markets, the company offers aggressive and competitive pricing as well as diverse and customized telecom services and systems specifically crafted for the wholesale marketplace. "We are fully satisfied with the MERA solution," says Maxim Geller, Vice President, ezTEL USA. "The MVTS has enabled us to double our traffic volume over the past ten months, whereas its advanced functionality allows us to offer the feature-rich options and voice quality that our customers need."

Dial Ost GmbH, a Germany-based VoIP service provider, has installed the MVTS to ensure efficient peer-to-peer and peer-to-enterprise connection. The MERA solution has enabled Dial Ost to significantly increase their traffic volume and expand the network reach. Now the company is planning an upgrade to a more powerful version.

Uniotel, the leading private long-distance operator in the Uruguay market, has deployed the MERA solution for its advanced interworking functionality. Uniotel was the first Uruguay company licensed as an international operator, and is a pioneer in the national VoIP sector. The ability of the MVTS to interface with a wide variety of equipment, bridging together Cisco, Clarent, Vocal Tech etc. products, enables termination with almost any VoIP partner and is an excellent revenue-generating tool for Uniotel whose focus is on low-cost, high-quality ILD services. "The MVTS platform enables us to provide a unified access to over 20 different gateways all over Latin America transparently to our customers," says Sergio Fogel, President of Uniotel. "Equally important, it allowed us to deploy a high quality residential voice-over-IP network for international long-distance services."
