Extended Analytical Capabilities Introduced In The New Release Of MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch

July 18, 2003

Detailed gateway statistics and more informative CDRs are added in the 2.1.6 release of MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch. The features come instrumental in the analysis of traffic routes and determining the most beneficial termination routes and partner relations.

The MVTS solution enables a simple and cost-effective VoIP peering and deployment of traffic transition facilities. The new release permits viewing and keeping exhaustive statistics for each originating and terminating gateway, which display current and maximum number of calls, overall amount of calls, total time, ASR (average successful rate), ACD (average call duration), etc. The Local Disconnect Codes data for every gateway permits the operator to track down problem areas in the network. The system alerts the administrator when ASR drops to a prohibitively low level. The user gets the ability to set a statistics collection period and store the data in a file for subsequent processing.

The updated CDRs are more informative and provide more call details, including record ID, the names of records containing the description of the originating and terminating gateways, as well as of the dial peer selected for call routing. The enhanced format offers detailed traffic statistics allowing identification of the most frequently used gateways and optimization of VoIP traffic routes.

LANCK Telecom, a leading Russian LD operator, which employs MVTS as a focal point in VoIP transit net and as a centralized entry and statistics facility, was the first company to try the new functionality. "Over the year of operation MVTS has demonstrated high performance and fault-tolerance, combined with efficient use of hardware resource," says Sergey Alexeev, head of LANCK's IT-department. "New enhanced CDRs will enable us to check the adequacy of accounting data, since the continuous numbering of the records prevents loss of information during data export. The information about the gateways and dial peers selected for call routing will allow us to analyze the routing mechanism and identify "issue areas" early enough to safeguard against dramatic drops in call completion rate."

The new release a FREE DEMO of the MVTS is available starting July 28, 2003 The DEMO can be downloaded from the company website: http://www.mera-systems.com/download/.
